The Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) with Insulinemia (0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes) at Primea Polyclinic in Belgrade is a diagnostic procedure used to evaluate dynamic glucose metabolism, insulin response, and peripheral insulin resistance.
The test begins with a fasting blood draw (minute 0), after which the patient drinks a standardized glucose solution. Blood samples are drawn again at 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes to measure glucose and insulin concentrations, creating a response curve that illustrates how the body processes glucose and releases insulin over time.
This test is indicated for suspected insulin resistance, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), unexplained weight gain, or fertility assessments.
Patients must arrive in the morning after fasting for 10 to 12 hours. The entire procedure takes approximately two hours, during which the patient must rest comfortably inside the clinic, refraining from physical movement, eating, drinking (other than plain water if permitted), or smoking.
